Punish offenders who use social media to racially abuse footballers/athletes
Rejected

What the petition asks
The government needs to take a zero tolerance policy on this matter and punish offenders.
It’s so easy to make a fake profile on social media and act anonymously and make racist remarks towards anyone. All social media platforms can do is ban users who can then make multiple accounts or use a different IP address. The premier league and the government need to liaise with police along with social media websites to bring heavy punishments to those who think it is acceptable to racially abuse Footballers who are actually role models to younger children and who do a lot for the country.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Racist abuse, including on social media, is already illegal.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
