Ban dogs from agricultural land

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Ban dogs from agricultural land.
Ban dogs from agricultural land. They attack livestock and kill lambs. I have been threatened and attacked for telling dog owners to keep their dogs a a lead while on my land something needs to be done to protect land owners. The problem has got a lot worst during lock down. I have been threatened 3 times in the past two days alone.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The owners of dogs which attack or chase livestock, or which are 'at large' in a field or enclosure containing sheep, are already at risk of breaking the law under the terms of the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953. You can read the Act here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Eliz2/1-2/28.

It is therefore not clear what it is you would like the Government to do. You could start a petition calling for a specified change to be made to this Act, if that is something you'd like to happen.

In the meantime you might like to sign this petition which calls for a related action:
Make it compulsory for all dogs to be on leads on public land
