Lower emergency tax rate to UK basic rate

What the petition asks
I want the government to lower the tax rate while you're on an emergency tax code to the UK basic tax rate.
For a few months now I've had no consistent employer and as a result I have been placed on an emergency tax code. Because I'm on an emergency tax code, I am charged a higher amount of tax. This has made it extremely difficult for me as I've not been receiving anywhere near my full pay. I know I am not alone here. I understand that this tax is refundable once I have a consistent employer, however these wages have been heavily taxed at the time where I need money the most!
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about how people are taxed when they are on an emergency tax code, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
When someone is on an emergency tax code they pay tax on all income above their personal tax allowance, but this will already be in line with current income tax thresholds.
If you want the income tax for people on emergency tax codes to be calculated in a different way we could accept a petition requesting this, but it would need to be clear how you wanted income tax to be calculated.
