Increase the priority of Clinically Vulnerable (CV) asthmatics for COVID vaccine

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Either:

- Ensure asthmatics who are classed as moderate risk, and already receive the yearly flu jab, are included in Group 6 for the first phase of the rollout
- Alternatively commit to offering the vaccine to this group during the first group of the second phase.
Currently the JCVI guidance lists severe asthma as a criteria to be placed in Group 6 of the vaccine rollout (16-64 with underlying conditions)

This excludes the vast majority of asthmatics who are still in the moderate risk (clinically vulnerable) category.

Asthma UK were given assurances by the Department of Health back in December that asthmatics on steroid inhalers who receive the flu jab would be included in group 6, however this is not the case.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about who is clinically extremely vulnerable is a clinical decision, not the responsibility of the Government or House of Commons.

We could accept a petition calling for people who are judged at moderate risk (clinically vulnerable) from Covid-19 to be given increased priority in the Covid-19 vaccination programme, if that is what you want to happen.
