Business Review sites to require description & prove users have used the service

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Any UK website that has a 'Review this business' feature on their system must comply and be able to prove that the user has used the service or business, to prevent rival businesses from causing problems and reduce general trolling.
All review sites must be held accountable for reviews that can potentially destroy a business if there is an abuse of the system taking place.
This is particularly true during these times of the Covid 19 Pandemic where many businesses are particularly fragile due to reduced income.
A few bad reviews from unscrupulous people can put hard-working people out of business. People have been struggling with living costs enough as it is during the years 2020 and 2021.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government is not responsible for how review websites operate, or the terms and conditions they have for their users. This is a matter for individual companies running such sights to decide.
