What the petition asks
ban alpaca abuse and killing for no reason in the england
because the alpacas are important in our circle of life and are funny joyful creatures that should live. And some company are slamming alpacas on to tables while pregnant or not and holding them with rope or plastic by there feet and arms and holding their ears.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the welfare of alpacas, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
Alpacas are already covered by the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which makes wners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met. These include the need:
- for a suitable environment (place to live)
- for a suitable diet
- to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
- to be housed with, or apart from, other animals (if applicable)
- to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling for the Government to ban keeping alpacas as livestock, if that's something you want to happen.
