What the petition asks
Open schools to all pupils on the 8th of March to minimise the amount of missed education and to prioritise the mental wellbeing of this generation.
COVID-19 has had a huge impact on everyone. Many pupils however, believe that the issue and focus of both mental and academic wellbeing isn’t being considered in the seriousness of which it should be. Academics of this generation are progressively missing more education and are feeling more fear for their futures and many students are progressively seeing a decline in their emotional wellbeing. Opening schools at the earliest date possible will aid these young people greatly.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Under the Government's roadmap out of lockdown, it is planned that children and students will return to face-to-face education in schools and colleges from 8 March. See:
