Petition · past parliament

Give students more time in written exams.

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

E.g. In a Psychology exam you are given a minute for each mark. Model answers are often 2-4 paragraphs for an 8 mark question. However, in the exam we can't think of what to write, 'plan' our answers and write multiple paragraphs in 8 minutes! We are marked on technique not how quick we can do it.
The Government and the department for Education can make this true. Especially due to loss of time and education during COVID.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The time allowed for any given exam is a matter for the exam board providing the exam, not the UK Government or Parliament.

Nevertheless you may wish to sign these petitions which call for related actions:

Amend GCSE exam content for children that are now in year 9 and year 10
Reduce content for 2022 A-level and GCSE exams
Review 2022 exam arrangements for GCSEs and A-levels
Tell students in advance topics on proposed teacher marked tests.
Open book exams for GCSE and A-level students sitting exams in 2021

Exam arrangements and the current coronavirus pandemic can cause worry and stress. You can find information on how to deal with stress here:
