Allow students to not wear school uniform, when having to wear masks at school.

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Not making all students wear school uniform and masks at the same time. So being able to wear comfortable clothes into our schools. To enable better, swifter learning.
This is really important for all students across the UK. Wearing uncomfortable masks along with the uncomfortable uniform, can result in students feeling ill, or too hot and then that can lead to fainting and students having to go home. If we wear our own clothes, we can dress appropriately for the weather meaning nobody is too hot / cold. Wearing both at the same time it also going to limit focus as if a student is uncomfortable they are not going to be able to learn at their full potential.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Schools can already decide whether to have a school uniform, so this is a matter for individual schools not the UK Government.

You could start a petition calling for a ban on mandatory uniforms in state schools during Covid-19, if that is something you'd like to see happen. Alternatively, you may simply wish to sign this petition which calls for a broader, related action: Ban mandatory uniforms in state schools.
