Petition · past parliament

Award the NHS, as an organisation, the George Cross for it's Covid-19 service.

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

Award the medal, as Malta was awarded it at the end of WW2 for it's peoples endurance and resolve to survive the almost constant daily bombing of their homes and cities.
It is a fact that must be acknowledged by all UK citizens that the NHS has been at the forefront of our nations fight against Covid-19. As it's not possible (as much as I'd like it to be) to award all NHS personnel individual medals, would it not be fitting and appropriate to see the George Cross emblem embossed upon future NHS PPE as a lasting mark of the debt this country owes to these brave and dedicated people.

Why it was rejected

It was about honours or appointments, which petitions cannot cover.
