What the petition asks
After the first lockdown kids out grew their new uniforms they hadn't had them long before lockdown, they returned to school they were bought others to be worn a handful of times now kids are back to school in march will need more I request being offered free uniforms.
Because we are not made of money this pandemic has caused many of us to loose jobs, be furloughed, have to shut our businesses. Ive spent £400 since Covid-19 restrictions came about on uniforms alone, people with more children would have spent more, the kids havent had a good wear out of anything and now need new as theyve all grown.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
It's up to schools to choose whether to have a uniform, and parents are responsible for buying any mandated uniform. If you're concerned about the cost of uniform at your own school, you could raise this with the school's senior management or governing body.
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to create a fund that parents can access for support buying school uniforms, if that's something you would like to happen.
