What the petition asks
The 2030 ban on diesel & petrol cars should mean that from this date the only new cars sold are FULLY electric. No car (including Hybrids) with an exhaust or the ability to be filled with petrol should be exempted. Lobbying must not weaken the planned legislation.
Yearly deaths from air pollution in the UK are at 28-36,000, and we have a urgent threat from Climate Change. We must ban ALL petrol/diesel cars. This must include banning all Hybrid cars, which can all still be driven on fossil fuels if a driver chooses. We must be bold and not flinch to pressure from oil companies or manufacturer lobbies to water down the ban. From 2030 only fully Battery electric cars, with no ability whatsoever to utilise fossil fuels should be allowed to be sold in the UK.
