Maintain the supply of fuel that does not contain ethanol for classic vehicles.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government has forced the addition of ethanol in fuel to meet it’s green agenda, but these additives are destructive in classic vehicles and their corrosive properties destroy the fuel systems of older vehicles. This can lead to fuel leakage and it’s risk of fire as well as poor emissions.
I would like ethanol free fuel to be kept available for classic vehicle owners, and it to be at a price comparable to the current E5 and the E10 that is being forced onto the public.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

On 10 March 2021 the Transport Minister responded to a Parliamentary Question about the introduction of E10 petrol, and did specifically reaffirm that E5 petrol will remain available for owners of older vehicles.

The decision of stocking and selling fuels is the responsibility of the fuel retailers and not that of the Government or Parliament.
