Increase National Insurance by 0.2% to increase the pay of frontline NHS Staff.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

According to the The Kings Fund there are 948,177 frontline staff working in NHS England classed as Doctors, Other Clinical Staff & Support to Clinical Staff. A modest but deserved increase to their salary could be funded by increasing NI by only 0.2%.
Due to the pandemic these workers deserve a little more. With a median salary of £31,461 across the UK's 24,000,000 workforce, a 0.2% NI increase (14% rate) would generate approximately £43.92 per worker and a total of about £1B in revenue. The would allow the country to give these 948,177 Doctors, Other Clinical Staff & Support to Clinical Staff and extra £1,000 each in their salary to say 'Thank You'. There should be enough money generated to also cover Scotland, Wales & Nothern Ireland.
