Reduce MP pay by 2% to show that the house stands with affected NHS workers

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Per the title, if our books cannot justify the promised 3% pay rise to NHS workers, MPs should show solidarity and take a 2% earnings cut
It is unjustifiable to say the government cannot make promised pay rises while ensuring MPs salaries continue to grow - without the NHS staff, you'd have all caught covid

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
