Allow autonomous cars to be used on UK roads

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Autonomy is a big part of the future, the EU had regulations that made it practically impossible to do. Now we have left the EU the UK government should change our regulations to allow autonomous cars and remove any EU regulations that stopped it. They UK should also rewrite the regulations on them.
Autonomous vehicles will be a huge part of the UKs future, by allowing autonomous cars to test and drive on UK streets it paves the way for us to become a leader in self driving. It also will attract companies like Tesla or Waymo to test their vehicles here and improve their safety on UK roads. Our laws should be more inline with the US laws of autonomous vehicles rather than the EUs restrictive laws on it.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want to see changes to the rules regarding driverless cars, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

The UK, US and EU all have different traffic laws and rules for approval of motor vehicles, but it's not clear exactly what changes you want to be made to existing UK laws, or if you want the use of driverless cars to be totally unrestricted.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
