Stop asking women to change their behaviour to avoid being attacked.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

The recent messages surrounding attacks on women have been for us to ‘not walk alone in the dark’, suggesting that if we adjusted our behaviour we wouldn’t have to worry. The focus needs to be on the attackers, the message should be ‘STOP ATTACKING WOMEN’.
The laws surrounding crimes of this nature need to be tougher, women should have more options to protect themselves, The police should be more focused on stopping men attacking women rather than suggesting women should change their behaviour to avoid being attacked.
In 2021 society should be a safe place for a women to walk from her car to her front door without feeling the need to run.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you're concerned about policing and women's safety but we're not sure how you'd like the law to change.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
