Change the education criteria and teach KS3 about grooming and sexual harassment

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Schools teach children about STI’s and periods and how to put a condom on but they don’t teach them how to notice if they’re being groomed; it’s a topic that isn’t taken seriously and needs to be. Children need to understand grooming, assault and consent before anything can change
In recent events it has been highlighted how unsafe women feel. Whilst doing this unfortunately won’t stop all sexual abuse and harassment it has every ability to minimise it, if children are taught this from a KS3 then there’s less of a chance they will be groomed as they will be more aware of what to look out for.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

The Government's new Relationships and Sex Education curriculum, which is mandatory in all state schools from this year, requires that students are now taught about key aspects of the law relating to sex, which include the age of consent, what consent is and is not, the definitions and recognition of rape, sexual assault and harassment, and that sexual violence and sexual harassment are not acceptable: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/relationships-education-relationships-and-sex-education-rse-and-health-education/relationships-and-sex-education-rse-secondary
