Introduce more severe penalties for cases of animal cruelty

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

The current penalties for animal cruelty do not appear appropriate for the suffering inflicted on the animal.
We want the Parliament to introduce more severe penalties for cases of animal cruelty.
The story of a dog owner who tied the animal to a heavy rock and threw it in the river has shocked the nation, yet the owner was only fined £80, an amount equivalent to littering fines.
We believe this shows that cases of animal cruelty are not being taken seriously enough and should be punished more severely.
