Allow trans people over 16 to self-identify

What the petition asks
The Government needs to allow those over the age of 16 to easily change their legally-recognised gender.
This would ensure that all UK businesses, services (such as NHS records) and education establishments would allow people to change their gender without disclosing transition details (if any) or their sex.
Many trans people are struggling to get the gender recognition they deserve due to the amount of barriers standing in their way. In some cases, transgender people are not allowed gender and/or name changes without proof of deed poll, which is inaccessible to some and inapplicable to others. In other cases parents can be forced to reveal trans students and pupils' sex, which can be extremely damaging. The importance of knowing somebody's sex and transition details needs to be lowered.
