We want a re-evaluation of the current education system

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Our education system needs to be reformed to place creativity, invention and independent thinking at the heart of schooling, rather than memory and repetition based learning.
Schools no longer prepare young people to enter a workplace which increasingly values the ability to think outside the box. Instead of equipping them with these vital skills, memory based assessments and evaluation based on repetition are what is valued most. Future generations need a learning environment that focuses on developing curiosity and learning from mistakes, rather than a one-size-fits-all mindset. Children need preparation to succeed in a future they are going to build.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want to see changes to the education system, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

The national curriculum already includes aims related to creativity and independent working, and it's not clear how you want the current education system to be re-evaluated or changed.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
