Stop covid 19 vaccination of children

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the Government to halt any plans to vaccinate children with the Covid 19 vaccines as children are at minimal risk of becoming ill from Covid 19. We also want long term safety data regarding vaccines before there are any plans to inoculate children.
The Vaccine technology is fairly new, particularly the Pfizer vaccine and as yet there is limited knowledge on any long term effects that may occur. Children are also at very minute risk of becoming ill from Covid 19, therefore we do not see a reason why children should be put through the further trauma of a vaccine. Particularly after the year of alarm and trauma they have already had to endure because of the pandemic.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

In their advice for priority groups for Covid-19 vaccinations from 30 December 2020, the JCVI made included the following statement:

"The committee advises that only those children at very high risk of exposure and serious outcomes, such as older children with severe neuro-disabilities that require residential care, should be offered vaccination with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or the AstraZeneca vaccine. "
