Lower the national speed limit for country lanes to 40mph

What the petition asks
Protect animals from being killed by drivers by making the speed limit 40mph on country lanes. This means the driver needs a shorter amount of space needed to brake in order to stop the vehicle in time for the animal to move.
Seeing deceased animals in such a horrific state on the road can ruine someone’s day. Animals also have families and feelings which people do not understand. The world's animals are slowly but surely becoming endangered or even extinct. Animals help our environment in rural areas. Linking to the animal Welfare act 2006, the need to be protected from pain suffering disease and injury, animals being killed on the road is going against this.
