Abolish MPs' right to claim expenses.

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Priti Patel's disgraceful actions are yet another example of the persistent abuse of taxpayer money and trust. There are children we cannot properly feed in this country, yet the home office can afford to spend £77,000 on beauty treatments. Enough is enough.
Scrap expenses altogether or introduce a major of overhaul of the system so that MPs can only legally claim for travel and accommodation expenses. Any abuse of this system should be punishable by prison.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
