What the petition asks
Introduce a law to protect the Union Flag. To criminalise such action against the Union Flag that causes great offence to loyal British subjects.
The Government and Parliament has a duty to Her Majesty and her subjects to protect the United Kingdom and such protection should embrace such national symbols as the Union Flag. We should not allow such calls of racism to interfere with our national heritage. I feel sure the majority of Rt Hon and Hon members will agree that Britain has never used the flag as a symbol of racism and it should not now be allowed to be called into question.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure what you'd like to be covered by 'disreputable use' of the flag.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
