What the petition asks
Revise 2010 Equality Act: Chapter 1, Section 85, subsection 10 to protect trans, religious and non-heterosexual students from harassment in schools (sexual misconducts and all that apply), by making the application of section 26 for the purposes of subsection (3) relevant to those characteristics.
Because of subsection 10 within section 85 of the Gender equality act, students with the characteristics of (a)gender reassignment; (b)religion or belief; (c)sexual orientation, are not protected from harassment, including all that is stated within section 26- subsection (3) and (1)(b), within schools. It is ridiculous that harassment, significantly including of a sexual conduct, is not protected or deemed relevant under the equality act. Every student should be protected from harassment.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
The Government's guidance to schools (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/315587/Equality_Act_Advice_Final.pdf) sets out that actions that would otherwise be covered by harrassment would be direct discrimination. We're not sure whether you want different protections to be available, and what that would involve.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
