What the petition asks

If somebody kills a person either through speeding or any other motoring offence, that person should be charged with murder not death by dangerous driving

The sentences people get for this crime are a joke and nowhere near long enough. The family of people who have died in this way are getting no justice for their loved ones. It won't bring people back to their families but it might deter others from driving like idiots if
they know the sentence is going to reflect the crime !!

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

We think these petitions would have the same effect:

Increase sentences for death by dangerous driving cases & lifetime driving bans

Charging decisions are a matter for the CPS, not the Government and Parliament.
