Repeal the Investigatory Powers Act 2016

What the petition asks
I would like the government to repeal the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, it is an unnecessary piece of legislation and it violates citizens human rights.
This legislation forces UK internet service providers to keep a 1 year log of all citizens’ website visit history, it allows the authorities to read text messages and listen to phone calls. It is essentially mass surveillance of citizens, even if you have done nothing wrong. It is claimed to help with security but mass surveillance of citizens is not the way to protect citizens. We deserve privacy!
