What the petition asks
Maternity pay ends at 39 weeks and maternity leave can last up to 52 weeks. However, following that, there is no support with childcare costs making a parent's return to work very difficult and unaffordable. The government should cap the fees for under 3s so they are affordable.
Cap the cost of childcare for under 3s so nurseries cannot charge extortionate amounts so the parent's return to work is worthwhile and affordable.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.
The Government aren't responsible for setting prices of private providers. You could start a petition calling for the Government to provide a fund for parents to pay for childcare over a specific cost, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
