Create legal requirements for schools to reduce, reuse and recycle

What the petition asks
It is estimated that the UK education sector produces upwards of 210,000 tonnes of waste every year. Schools carry the responsibility of reducing and recycling waste. Fulfilling this responsibility should be mandated by law.
Every school should have a legal responsibility to ensure that a sufficient school waste management system is in place to reduce, reuse and recycle. Schools are viewed by some as role models for eco-friendly waste management, and this somewhat daunting responsibility must be addressed appropriately by every school.
Legislation on waste and recycling should be updated so that schools must recycle!
