What the petition asks

Please can you assist India during this crisis?

Please provide India with oxygen and any other assistance you are able to provide.

Please help co-ordinate an international response in helping India.

Please help India scale up hospital beds and in tackling the second wave.

This Covid wave is overwhelming India

Patients are dying in hospitals as they run out of oxygen. We have a moral responsibility to help our friends in need.

Patients are dying waiting outside hospitals. The scale of death and suffering is appalling. There are reports of ongoing mass cremations

There are new Covid variants arising in India. The longer Covid transmission in India goes unchecked, the greater the likelihood of new variants spreading that may endanger all of our lives.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

On 25 March the Government announced it was donating ventilators and oxygen concentrator devices to India, to support the country in its fight against COVID-19. You can read more about this here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-sends-life-saving-medical-equipment-to-india

If there were other forms of support you would like the Government to donate to India, you could start a petition about that.
