Deny Diplomatic Status to the EU on the basis it is not a country
Rejected

What the petition asks
Accredited Ambassadors always represent a Country. The EU is not a country and should not be allowed to open such an office. We are being bullied into this arrangement with trade agreements being used as bait.
I think the EU are using this as a lever in their negotiations with us on trade. Also such an office will attract the attention of the more right wing of our population and is not welcome here.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the EU's diplomatic status, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It is up to the EU what physical presence to have in the UK, but we could accept a petition calling on the Government not to give the EU's ambassador to the UK diplomatic status, if that's what you want to happen.
