Allow the use of electric scooters in public with registration and a fee

Closed 40 signatures

What the petition asks

Allow the use of Electric Scooters in public. To ensure safety, charge a one off registration fee of around £15 per Scooter and that all new scooters are to have a registration number engraved on them, and all older models must be engraved with a registration number for an additional £10.
This would allow the police to confirm the ownership of the scooter by checking the registration card with the scooter itself and an online database. Not only will this provide extra protection against theft, but it will make the owner more liable for any problems caused. This will also help the disabled get around when a mobility scooter seems too excessive but personal mobility is restricted. Disabled riders would also have a disabled badge that can be attached to the steering bar.
