Do not slash Higher Education funding of Archaeology and Arts subjects

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

The government must scrap plans to cut funding of Archaeology and Arts subjects in Higher Education by 50%, as outlined in the recent Office for Students (OfS) consultation on recurrent funding (deadline 6th May 2021).
The Office for Students (OfS) proposes to slash the recurring budget for subjects including Archaeology by 50%. This signifies an effective death sentence for a subject in which the UK boasts the top 4 institutions globally, and which contributes directly to the heritage sector and £31 billion in national tourism revenue per year.
