Petition · past parliament

Stop under 18’s and non-UK citizens from voting in Scotland and Wales.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The U.K. should unite in a single policy for voting rights in any election. Only legally recognised adults over the age of 18 with full U.K. citizenship, should be eligible to cast a vote.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Decisions about the electorate for some elections in Wales and Scotland are devolved to the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Parliament.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
