What the petition asks
In February our lovely dogs, Coco and Spotty, perished in a local farm reservoir. It was not fenced and had a new polypropylene lining which means that, when wet, it is so slippery it is impossible for anyone (human or animal) to climb out.
The Government should:
- Commission research into the safest, most effective, most environmentally-friendly and most wildlife-friendly way to capture and store rainwater on farms.
- Require land owners to add secure perimeters to their reservoirs such as cargo netting or fencing.
- Ensure all water resource management grants include ring-fenced funding for robust health and safety measures
