Protect productive agricultural land and green belt from development in law

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Bring in legal protection for productive agricultural and green belt land from development.
We need our prime agricultural land to grow sustainable high quality food which will cut our carbon foot print. The soil where the crops are growing locks in carbon so is a big part of the fight against the Climate Emergency. The fields also provide habitats and hunting grounds for wildlife.
Green spaces provide a home for biodiversity to thrive also part of the solution to the Climate Crisis. They are also vital for people's health and well being.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you're concerned about development of greenbelt land, however it's not clear what legal protections you want to be introduced to protect such land.

If there is a specific legal protection you would like to be brought in, you could start a petition about that.
