Ban the burning of peat for fuel

What the petition asks
The government should ban the use of peat as fuel. Instead, the government should support the development of sustainable energy sources. Peatlands should be protected from harvesting for any reason, not just for horticulture.
The recent announcement to ban peat in horticulture is a positive step for protecting peatlands. But a significant proportion of peat is harvested for use as fuel to burn. This still results in peatlands being destroyed and increases carbon emissions.
