Re-open doctors surgeries fully, to enable patients to be seen by GPs
Rejected
12 signatures
What the petition asks
Issue an instruction to all the General Practitioners in England to resume surgeries and provide face to face consultations immediately
The fundamental part of being a GP is to provide a physical examination to make an informed diagnosis. With the continual lifting of restrictions allowing people to have personal contact (eg dentists/hairdressers) then it is imperative that we are now allowed to physically see our GP. Patients can find it extremely difficult to convey their symptoms via telephone & lots of older/vulnerable people find it difficult/unable to communicate via Zoom type consultations. We need to see our doctors
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions on when to offer a face to face, as opposed to a remote, consultation are an operational decision for GPs and NHS Trusts.
