The UK should cease to participate in Eurovision
Rejected

What the petition asks
Recognising that Eurovision voting has become too political, and that the outcomes are not based in the quality of our musical acts, but on settling past and current political scores, the UK Govt and the BBC should cease to fund, and participate in, the annual Eurovision non-contest.
This is a waste of public funds, and has become a national embarrassment, that requires action now to avoid continuing national humiliation by other countries with various political agendas.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about the UK's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest are a matter for the BBC, not the Government or House of Commons.
The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
This means the Government is not responsible for decisions relating to the Eurovision Song Contest.
