Hold a second referendum on using Alternative Vote (AV) for general elections

Closed 37 signatures

What the petition asks

Before the next General Election, the Government should hold a referendum on whether to change the voting system for general elections to Alternative Vote (AV).
The current system is not fair, and often means people end up voting tactically, rather than for their preferred candidate.

Using AV would mean if no candidate got 50% of the vote, the candidate with fewest votes is eliminated, and their votes allocated to the voters next preferred candidate. This process would then be repeated until a candidate had more than 50% of all votes.
