What the petition asks
Designate a Monday nearest armistice day each year as a Bank Holiday to commemorate British service personnel that have been killed, injured or missing, presumed dead, while in service.
In today’s hectic world, it’s easy to forget the sacrifices made by so many service personnel in the defence of Britain or British interests or in support of other nations.
As we move further away from the two major wars of the twentieth century, fewer and fewer will remember the causes, the horrific consequences and sacrifices made during those conflicts. By holding a dedicated Bank Holiday each year, we can ensure those are never forgotten, and those that have served Britain are remembered.
