Create statutory procedures for sexual offence complaints at university

What the petition asks
The Government should require investigations into allegations of a sexual nature to be initiated and concluded with a month of being reported; that investigations be transparent; that complainants be informed of any penalties imposed, and that any offences be permanently recorded by the institution.
The current University rape culture needs to be addressed immediately, with greater urgency. I want the Government to implement a statutory procedure universities are required to follow when dealing with incidents of a sexual nature, that is consistent across all Universities.
Currently Universities are by no means an environment that students feel safe in. This is due to the lack of consequence for sexual assault allegations. Sexual assault cases rarely result in expulsion, meaning many victims are forced to see their abuser around campus. A statutory process should improve outcomes for victims.
