Allow students to wear shorts in the hot weather instead of black trousers

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

School students are stuck in black school trousers, in the boiling weather for hours, without being able to wear shorts. Change this.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you're concerned about students being prevented from wearing shorts to school. However, there is no national ban on students doing so, so we're not sure what it is you'd like the Government to do. The setting of uniform policies, including any rules relating to the wearing of shorts, is a matter for individual schools and academy trusts, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could have a petition calling on the Government to require all schools to allow students to wear shorts in hot weather, if that is something you'd like to see happen.

You may also like to sign this petition which calls for a very similar action: Require schools to allow students to wear PE kits on hot days
