Change titles to reflect gender equality and inclusivity

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Change the titles 'Mr, Miss and Mrs' to 'Mr (Male), Ms (Female) and Mx (Non-binary/undefined)'
It is important that we continue to shift the rules of our society that were built on patriarchal and gender binary beliefs.

A woman's marital status should no longer be advertised in her title, as it reflects a history of female repression and inequality.

A person should also have the option to not be defined by one of two genders and to present themselves, reflective of who they are.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions on which titles people use are a matter for individuals.
