Lower the price of period products

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

As a woman, period products are way too high for us . We cannot help the fact our body is going through this.

I think parliament need to think about lowering the prices of these products as most women in the UK cannot afford these prices and worry about where they are going to get a pad
A lot of women cannot afford paying £3-£4 per pack of period pads/ tampons, so a lot of women are left in period poverty.

The average woman spends £13 a month on period products like pads and tampons and another £21 on things like underwear and pain relief .

1 in 10 girls can’t get period pads/ tampons where 1 in 7 cannot afford to buy them according to a survey bodyform conducted on 1000 girls aged 14-21.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This is a decision for manufacturers and retailers.

We could accept a petition calling for the Government to fund free period products, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
