Stop separating parents when a child needs medical attention/hospital admission
Rejected

What the petition asks
NHS hospital trusts are stopping both parents from being with their sick child in hospital, forcing one parent to make all medical decisions alone and have no personal support that is needed in distressing times.
We have experienced first hand the devastating impact that this separation has on a family since my 20 week anomaly scan. Since our Daughter was born back in January 2021, she has undergone 2 major operations and multiple specialist appointments and A&E admissions. All of which I have had to endure without the support of my husband by my side.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. There is no legal limit on parents visiting or supporting parents in hospitals, instead this is an operational decision for the NHS.
