Before people own a dog or dogs, pass a mandatory CRB check

What the petition asks

I would like for every new dog owner to have a mandatory lawful CRB check before being granted ownership of a dog , those who pass said CRB check to have safety and health checks on their dog or dogs every 6 months-12 months .

Id like to believe I speak on behalf of most people in the UK when typing this.
I am fed up and tired of seeing new/old dogs abandoned on streets everywhere , given to rescue centres etc , I dont believe it's fair,you wouldn't do it to children.whatever the reason owners should have thought of this before owning a dog.
I think it would be a great idea to bring in a mandatory lawful CRB check before ownership of a dog/dogs and upon passing mandatory,health/safety checks every 6-12 months

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

CRB checks have been replaced by DBS checks, which show whether someone has a criminal record. We're not sure whether you want anyone with any sort of criminal record to be prevented from owning a dog.
