What the petition asks
Enact Law to enable a canine DNA database and to make DNA sampling compulsory for new-born puppies within the UK or those puppies imported into the UK
Theft of dogs has increased during Covid lockdowns. Dog thieves are cutting microchips from dogs to avoid detection.
A DNA database would stop that happening and would be a more secure and foolproof way to identify dogs, should they ever be stolen or indeed get lost/run away.
