Issue a statement in support of the brave Cuban people and for Democracy in Cuba

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

We call on Parliament to issue a statement in support of greater Democracy and freedoms in Cuba and in support of the Cuban people who have bravely taken to the streets to stand up against the ruthless Authoritarianism of the Cuban state.
It must be made clear and stated quite emphatically that Cuba is not a paradise Island or holiday destination. It is an island where the rights of men, women and children are violated and trodden upon in the name of a ruthless Authoritarian regime.

An Orwellian nightmare that the brave Cuban people are currently and desperately trying to wake up from.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We understand you're concerned about protests in Cuba. However we can't accept petitions which call for members of Parliament to make statements on any particular issue individually or collectively, as that is a personal matter for them.

You could have a petition calling on the UK Government to call on the Cuban Government to ensure its citizens' right to peaceful protest is respected, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
